Knitting needle size directly influences the size of your knitting stitches (as does yarn thickness and the stitch pattern being worked).
It is generally a good idea to begin knitting with the needle size suggested for a Pattern or specified on Yarn Labels. However, you may need to adjust the needle size to achieve the proper gauge required.
